Q4F8+25, Murud, Maharashtra 415713

Murud Beach sits in a quiet coconut-and-betel-nut village just north of Karde, and its darker, firm sand gives it a character all its own. Not to be confused with Murud-Janjira near Alibaug, this Murud is a broad, shaded shore where palm groves reach almost to the waterline and cool sea breeze runs all day. It is one of the friendliest beaches in Dapoli for a lazy family outing, with gentle waves, room to walk for a mile, and dolphin boats that set out at first light. Birdwatchers love the quieter southern end, where Olive Ridley turtles and a variety of coastal birds appear in season. A cluster of well-run resorts and homestays sits right behind the tree line, so you can step from breakfast onto the sand. The village also holds the old Durga Devi temple, worth a short detour. Visit from October to March, combine it with Karde and Ladghar, and keep an evening free simply to watch the sun sink into the Arabian Sea.
