Kolthare Beach

Kolthare is the beach for travellers who want the Konkan without the crowd. Set at the southern end of the Dapoli coast, it is a long, clean and largely undeveloped shore where the Panchanadi stream slips quietly into the Arabian Sea, creating a scenic meeting of freshwater and tide. There is little commercial noise here, just casuarina shade, wide sand and the sound of the surf, which makes it a favourite for slow walks, reading and honest solitude. The village behind the beach is known for the ancient Koleshwar Shiva temple and for warm homestays that serve unhurried Konkani meals. Nearby sunset spots at Ghalai and Waghbil add drama to the evenings. Because facilities are minimal, Kolthare rewards the self-sufficient traveller who carries water and cash and does not expect shacks and jet skis. Come between October and March, pair it with Ladghar and the Parshuram Bhumi viewpoint, and you have a peaceful counterpoint to Dapoli's busier beaches.
