Anjarle Beach

Anjarle is a long crescent of soft white sand fringed by palms, and it is the most storied beach in Dapoli. Above it, on a cliff, stands the famous Kadyavarcha Ganpati temple, so a visit here easily blends pilgrimage with the shore. The beach is best known for the Anjarle Turtle Festival, when Olive Ridley hatchlings are released into the sea under a conservation programme that runs roughly from February to May; watching the tiny turtles scramble to the water is a genuine once-in-a-lifetime moment. The rest of the year Anjarle is calm and clean, good for birdwatching, unhurried walks and photography, with a bridge connecting it towards Kelshi. It is quieter than Karde, with a handful of tents and small resorts rather than a busy shack line, which suits travellers seeking nature over noise. Reach it via a scenic drive of about 25 km from Dapoli. Time your trip for the turtle season if you can, otherwise the October to March window gives you clear skies, the clifftop temple and a soft, unspoilt beach.
