Kelshi Beach

Kelshi is where a beautiful beach meets deep history. At the northern edge of the Dapoli coast, this long and lightly visited shore is famous for its rare sand-dune region, a geological curiosity that carries old civilisational stories. The village around it is layered with heritage: the swayambhu Mahalaxmi temple from the Peshwa era, the revered Yakub Baba Dargah, and folklore of Konkan's maritime trade. That blend of nature, faith and history gives Kelshi a slower, more contemplative feel than the water-sports beaches to the south. Travellers come to walk the dunes, photograph the wide empty sands, and dip into the village's temples and dargah in a single unhurried visit. It suits families, solo travellers and couples looking for something soulful rather than hectic. A handful of resorts and homestays make an overnight easy. Reach it via Anjarle over a scenic bridge, and plan for October to March when the light is soft and the sea is calm enough for long, dreamy beach walks.
