Best location with direct access to Tarkarli beach. Excellent beach view and good value for money purely because of the location. However, service and food need serious improvement and attention from the authorities. Without the prime location and beach view, this place would be a 1-star experience.

Stayed in the beach facing cottage, which is literally on the beach. All cottages are spread out along the sea front and the entire property is neat and clean. Beautiful coconut plantation provides plenty of shade throughout the day. Small cafeteria is functional with limited dishes. Number of restaurants are also available close by for wider choice. Staff help with luggage from the car parking but for two wheelers, you can park right outside the cottage - which is very convenient. Beach opposite the resort is very clean and hardly any crowd. The public beach is also nearby. Very comfortable stay with walks on the beach at sunset, under the full moon and early morning.

The location of MTDC Tarkarli is perfect, right next to the beach with a beautiful view. Rooms are average, and the bed was not very comfortable. The lighting inside the rooms is quite dull, which makes the space feel less refreshing. However, the cleanliness is well maintained, which is a big plus. Coming to food — the in-house restaurant service is slow, and the taste is just average. Overall, it was an above-average experience, mainly because of the excellent location and cleanliness.

Pros: 1) you get quick access to shared beach with public so that showers and all is accessible in the close rooms. 2) bike ok rent for 500 per day Cons: 1) barely cleaned rooms with damp smell. 2) cheaper rooms might get a good view and close to beach entry than expensive one's. So its all luck as which room you get. 3) average food with limited options in breakfast 4) zero hospitality, manager is constantly on other call wherever you call so not reachable, no phone system to call anyone for help 5) lack of wifi to our room, had no coverage 6) hot water kettle not working, 7) full day we were stuck with 2 of towels for 2 people as they their stock was in washing! Come on! So we tried to put our towels on the chair outside to dry and after some time, we see a dog was sitting in it! 8) so dogs and cows roaming around is considered normal on the supposed closed property. 9) and most of all, typical 'government job' mentality. Superiors don't care so people working for them don't care as well. Conclusion: stay away, better see another resort next to this so you get same access for cheaper and with better hospitality mentality.

The only good thing about this resort is the location. That’s it. Rooms are poorly maintained. Beds are uncomfortable. Walls are stingy. AC is pointing to some other direction instead of bed. The restaurant makes no sense at all. Nobody maintains hygiene. Wiping tables is a long shot, I noticed a clear lapse in hygiene during service by a waiter. I couldn’t even touch the food served by him after I observed concerning actions while handling the order. To top it all, we didn’t get towels. TOWELS. At a beach resort. TOWELS….. We kept asking for it since morning. But got dodged by the manager with various nonsense reasons. We were lucky to have found nearby restaurants for food. And we were mostly out of our rooms to avoid the frustration of choosing this place as a trust for MTDC. What I felt in the end was, the staff did not care for any of our concerns after we addressed them all. They could have been resolved. But they CHOSE not to. That’s the catch. So if you love Tarkarli beach (which is really a gem not to miss) do consider some other place to stay.

All the rooms are separate cottages. they had an outdoor sitting area and an indoor sitting area in addition to the bedroom with a mini refrigerator and an attached bathroom. the beach is easily accessible with a dedicated entrance for MTDC resort customers. the beach was clean and calm the beach was crowded in the evening and mornings though. the food was great when ordered alacarta but the breakfast buffet was very basic. phone network is week in the rooms and wifi is available only in the reception and restaurant dining area. Few more hammocks would have been great. parking is sufficient and they also have scuba center. booking can be done ofline. i could not find an online booking option. the mtdc scuba center with accomodation which is a separate property was closed due to renovation.

1. Rooms: it's an ageing property. It's not bad but don't expect any amazing ambience. Room size could have been bigger. Property is vast and peaceful. 2. Location: While it's next to the beach, it's not the only one. Tarkarli has many beach side resorts. Water sports hub is very close to the property so expect some crowd. 3. Food: Breakfast buffet has 3 items plus tea/coffee. Breakfast was good on both days. Didn't try lunch/dinner. No room service so you'll have to eat in the restaurant only. 4. Service: Staff was polite, courteous and helpful.
